What causes stubborn body fat?

A poor diet, a lack of physical activity, and genetics can all contribute to stubborn body fat. As we get older, it can become harder and harder to lose stubborn pockets of fat. Even with proper diet and exercise, fat cells can linger in the abdomen, back, love handles, thighs, and submental area (under the chin).

It can be extremely frustrating for people to diet and exercise and still feel negative about their bodies. In cases where fat is too stubborn to leave the body, thankfully, there are non-surgical body sculpting treatments that can safely reduce fat on the body.

What is body sculpting?

Body sculpting is a procedure that removes unwanted deposits of fat from specific areas of the body. Usually, these areas are resistant to exercise, but with body sculpting, fat removal is more comfortable and more discreet. Clients experience faster recovery and better results. With traditional liposuction, patients often feel discomfort during the procedure and experience bruising afterward. Body sculpting is a non-invasive, more comfortable option, and there is significantly less downtime.

Schedule stubborn body fat treatments

At Skin Medical Aesthetics in Windham, Maine, we provide multiple treatments for comprehensive body sculpting and fat reduction. Our services include:

You can think of CoolSculpting as laser liposuction. The laser system freezes targeted fat cells beneath the surface of the skin. Once damaged, these fat cells are removed from the body through a natural process and will not regenerate. Learn more here.

EMSculpt is the first FDA-cleared energy device approved to burn fat and build muscle mass. If you are already in good shape and desire muscle toning, EMSculpt may be right for you. Learn more here.

Kybella is an injectable treatment that uses deoxycholic acid to reduce fat cells and prevent future storage of fat in the submental area. If you have a double chin, Kybella is a fantastic treatment option. Learn more here.
